Wild Boar Stalking in Hungary – Summer 2019
Come to Vac in Hungary and experience the thrills of stalking a wild boar on foot!
We have access to some 1200ha of mainly broadleaved woodland and some agricultural fields too. There is plenty of holding cover in the form of young plantations of beech and oak. A good number of the older stands consist of red oak, the acorns of which supply a regular mast (unlike English oak…), which is a good food source for and very attractive to both boar and deer. In addition to an abundance of natural food, we will putting down over 10 tonnes of maize, carrots, hay, etc. annually, spread throughout the whole year.
The hunting lodge we have access to on our hunting ground is modern, clean and spacious. There are 3 bedrooms, which sleep up to 5 hunters, and 2 bathrooms. Food is plentiful, as is always the case in Hungary, and cooked superbly by the owner of the lodge, Laszlo, who caters for every need.
We are offering 2 FULL days hunting either spread over a long weekend or midweek break. Some dates will be fixed, while others are more flexible and can be adjusted to suit everyone’s needs and diary commitments. Over the course of 2 days hunting, there will be at least 4 outings, though if time (and sleep) allows maybe more. On the day of arrival there might be the opportunity of a bonus evening outing, primarily subject to flight times.
The cost of the trip is £900 per hunter plus your flights. Once you arrive at the airport, we will pick you up and take care of you until we drop you back off on the final day of your stay. Everything is included in the above price, i.e. transfers, hunting licence, accommodation, food and drink, and everything you shoot except for trophy animals. Within the £900 fixed cost, you can shoot all wild boar (including keilers) and cull deer according to the cull plan and what is allowed at any particular time of the year. If you want to shoot a roe buck or red stag, extra costs apply and are as follows:
Roe bucks – 250g, 300g and 350g at 300, 400 and 550 Euros respectively
Red stags – 5.5kg, 7.5kg and 8.5kg at 1400, 2500 and 3500 Euros respectively
Trophy shooting will be guided by a Hungarian PH to ensure selection of the correct animals. Red stags will only be shot during the rut, September through to mid October.
Syndicate places are also available, which allow you to come as often as you want.

What happened on our trips in 18/19…
What happened on our trips in 17/18…

Croatia (Oct/Nov 2017)
This early season trip was our first outing to shoot driven boar. Typical of the season ahead, it was very mild and not conducive to good driven hunting. Over 3 days 10 hunters managed to shoot 51 wild boar and 10 red deer, mostly from fenced areas unfortunately and not open areas as we had been promised. Both the new guys managed to take their first driven boar.
Zselic (Dec 2017)
Again, the weather was too warm for December and instead of snow we had plenty of mud, which caused a few access issues. That said, 10 hunters shot 91 animals (75 wild boar and 16 deer) over 4 days including some very nice keilers. Most of the hunters were regulars and knew Zselic well. The one boar virgin shot his first and several others, as well as one very nice keiler, and had several entertaining stories to take home with him!!
Kemence (Dec 2017)
After an absence of 3 years (due to hunting being reduced following a huge ice storm, which caused massive damage to the forest areas), we returned to Kemence in December rather than our usual end of January slot. The 4 day hunt was warm and muddy to start with, but cold and frosty by the end. As usual this hunt delivered in great style and 14 hunters shot 118 animals, comprising 97 wild boar, 19 deer and 2 mouflon. Both newbies shot very nice keilers and one also took his first VERY long range mouflon.
Nagymaros and Diosjeno (Jan 2018)
The 4 day hunt was quite cold, but not as cold as it is normally. We saw plenty of animals and, despite a fairly high percentage of inexperienced hunters within the group, still managed to bag 62 animals (57 boar and 5 deer) between 14 hunters. All 5 boar virgins had lost their virginity by the end of the trip and were initiated accordingly!!
